History
The Little Flower Neighborhood developed in the 1920s, with the majority of homes constructed in the 1930s and 1940s. Homes were built around St. Therese, the Little Flower Catholic Church and School founded in 1925, which continues to be the anchor of the neighborhood. In 1953, Father Thomas Scecina Memorial High School was added. “Scecina”, as most people call it, is considered one of the top private schools in Indianapolis. The Little Flower Neighborhood has maintained this family oriented community for over eighty years.
Homes
Bungalows Galore! One of the most distinct features of the Little Flower neighborhood is the homes. Most homes are two to three bedrooms in the Arts and Crafts, California Bungalow and Tudor Revival styles. Almost every home has a large front porch which gets a lot of use in the summer months. Being an older neighborhood, large mature trees abound throughout.
Location
The Little Flower Neighborhood is located on the near eastside of Indianapolis; bordered by 16th Street to the north, 10th Street to the south, Emerson Avenue to the east and Sherman Drive to the west. The Little Flower Neighborhood is a ten minute commute to Downtown Indianapolis. See Map
